First night in the crib

First night in the crib was by most accounts a success!  Xander only woke at his normal feeding hours and didn't seem bothered by the change in loci. We need to play around with the monitor settings (higher sound sensitivity, lower motion) so we aren't woken up with every other kick or shift but otherwise it worked out great!

It's pretty nice having our room back. I forgot how relaxing it was to watch Rachel Maddow and the Daily Show before bed without fear of disturbing the little man.

He did, however, decide that a morning nap in our bed was in order. I guess he missed us after all.

Morning walk for dog and boy in dog suit

This fleece hoodie came the other day from Zulily. It says 12M but it's waaaay smaller than that. A perfect fit for him right now!

Tummy time, goofy nuks and Poppa

Yesterday during tummy time, an activity normally hated by the Xman, I managed to get a little smile.  Well, he was smiling at the ceiling fan but I will take it!

Then later when Poppa and grandma Cher were over we put this paci in his mouth and subsequently laughed our butts off for about 10 minutes.

A few weeks ago he was too small to even use this paci. Now it fits perfectly!  Dang this kid is growing fast!

A few great shots of Xander with poppa Erwin.

Action! Sleep

Ever since we moved Xander from bassinet to Pack and Play in prep for crib, he has become increasingly active in his sleep. He will often end up sideways from his starting position. This kid can't even sit still when he's sleeping!
He turned nearly 180 last night. His head started out at the 12 o'clock position!

All of this flailing is also causing a lovely bald spot on the back of his head.  Reading on mommy forums, I have found this to be very common. Thankfully he will lose this hair before the more permanent stuff comes in.  Let's just hope he gets his dad's thick mane instead of my laughably thin hair.

This week in Xanderland

A few pics from this week...

He seems completely entranced by the monkey. Whenever he sits in the jumperoo he can't take his eyes off it!

In his adorable bibs from cousin Dayna.

Jessie got to meet him in NOLA, it was only fair her hubby David got to meet him while he was in Madison.

So I says to Mabel, I says...

This sleeveless number cracks us up- thanks Amy!

With his uncle Dustin.

This one was taken a few weeks ago but I just remembered it today. It's the best pic of "shark face" I've ever managed to capture.

NOLA Day 4: Heading Home

(Monday, August 26th)

It was a great but all too short trip.  Xander did very well on the flights, especially considering he is teething!  He got his first set of wings on the way home.  Hopefully the first of many!

NOLA Day 3: Aquarium!

(Sunday, August 25th)

Goofy start to the morning with Jessie and Woody Belle.

We headed to the Quarter for lunch at Cafe Masperos with Jon, Elizabeth, Laurel and Seth. From there we walked over to the Audubon Aquarium- momma's favorite!  Xander was absolutely captivated by the fish.  He especially loved the sharks and giant turtle.

Finished the afternoon drinking cafe au laits and eating beignets at Morning Call in City Park. City Park is really lovely with a sculpture garden which we only got to glimpse from the car on the way out.
